Valentine's is coming

Welcome to bottle2glass a blog about what I love....WINE!

February the sweet heart month. Time to think about the one you love. It could be your husband, wife, partner or special friend. This is one of those times to make some special arrangements maybe a special dinner out, or just stay in and cuddle up to enjoy a nice bottle of wine.

If your feeling the mood on Valentine's Day. Here are some wines I found that would suit that special occasion or mood. You may just be sitting around enjoying a nice quite dinner at home or skipping dinner to cuddle up near a fire to enjoy the wine and company. Not necessarily in that order.

Henry Fessy Saint Amour 2009, Crus Du Beaujolais

When you think of a wine from Beaujolais you are probably thinking Beaujolais Nouveau. The Beaujolais Nouveau comes out once a year in November. It could have flavours of kirsch, cotton candy and bubble gum. The Saint Amour is a far cry from Beaujolais Nouveau. The Saint Amour is made with 100% Gamay, it has a nice aroma that you want to take in and enjoy.  13% Alcohol; Nose - Black Fruit, Spice and Tobacco; Palate - Blackfruit (Blackberry), chocolate, oak, smooth tannins with a clean long finish. You can enjoy this wine on its own or with BBQ Salmon or a steak. This is a wine that we really enjoyed. You may be able to find it in your local BC Liquor Store for $24.99

Rocland Estate - Chocolate Box Shiraz - 2009

Thinking of sharing a Box of Chocolate for Valentine's Day, why not rethink that and share a bottle of Chocolate Box. Chocolate Box by Rocland Estate from the Northern Barossa Valley in Australia is produced from 100% Shiraz.  The Chocolate Box has 15% Alcohol; Nose - Blackfruit, Chocolate (yes Chocolate), and vanilla; Palate - Black fruit, mocha, vanilla with medium tannins and a long smooth finish. For $24.99 this wine did not disappoint. This is one that you should look for at a BC Liquor Store. We enjoyed this wine with Rack of Lamb.

If you are not feeling the love this Valentine's day why not give these wines a shot.

Bitch 2008 Grenache

"Bitch" is produced by "R Wines". This is the same producer  that brought us "Skull", "Evil", "Strike", and "Punch in the Face" (only available at select restaurants). This wine is a simple wine to enjoy on your own. The longer I let this wine sit the better it was. So I would recommend decanting and serving slightly chilled. (place in Refrigerator for 1/2hour before serving or drinking). This wine is made from the Grenache Grape; 15.5% alcohol (sure to kill off any painful memories); Nose - First thing that hit me was the Alcohol, then Vanilla, Cedar, and Red Fruit; Palate - Vanilla, Spice, and Oak. This wine may be found at a local BC Liquor Store. For $17.99 this wine is fun and not very serious.

Fat Bastard Merlot

You can find two other varietals in the BC Liquor Stores. They are Chardonnay and Shiraz. I have had the Fat Bastard Shiraz in the past; which is an okay budget wine.  This Fat Bastard Merlot has 13.5% Alcohol;  Nose - Dark Fruit, Plum and some vanilla; Palate - Dark Fruit, cedar and low tannins with a short finish.  I found Fat Bastard Merlot to be a simple wine at a budget price which you may find in a BC Liquor Store for $14.99

Hope you Enjoy!

Ciao!
