Welcome to bottle2glass a blog about what I love.......WINE!!
I finally joined a club! No not the typical type (golf, bowling, skiing) but; a wine club. Your probably wondering why a wine club? First; wine clubs are year round and the clubs I listed are seasonal. Second: I love tasting and experiencing different wines.
Of course I like the adventure of going out to buy my own wine. I sometimes relate it to a kid in a candy store. Searching the shelves for that unique wine. My wife sometimes needs to come searching for me wondering where I disappeared or why it is taking so long to buy a bottle of wine.
This wine club is that 'unique club'. The wines I receive each month are wines you most likely will never find in your local BCLS (B.C. Liquor Store) or the local boutique wine store. The adventure is all in waiting for 'the box' to arrive at my front door. Waiting to open 'the box' and discovering my treasures, and of course being the only one to have this special treasure of wine. (Well, besides the others that have also signed up). Okay, they give me some advance notice of what the month selections will be.
So far I have received two shipments (third coming any day now) of wine and I have not been disappointed with the selections. I was so pleased with them I went out and purchased more of the ones I enjoyed. I know your thinking "thought you said you cannot buy them!". Well I went to the source that shipped me the wine. Marquis Wine Cellars is located in downtown Vancouver. They have a wide range of wines to choose from that are not sold at the BCLS plus some of the ones I recieved in 'the box'.
If you are interested in joining this wine club click on Marquis Wine Club and enjoy the unique wines that they will send you once a month. The wine club has four different levels you can chose from so enjoy!
Here are some of the wines I have received and opened:
Lamadrid Estate Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon
As stated on my selection page "The Lamadrid wines are exclusive to Marquis, and thus part of the wine club as well" . I am glad this one was! Alcohol - 14%; Nose - tobacco, blackfruit, oak, forest floor; Palate - chocolate, smoke, oak I found this wine to have a short finish with meduim tannins. This would suit something red as in meat!
Poggio Morino Morellino de Scansano
A very nice bottle from Tuscany with a blend of Sangiovese and Syrah, (85%/15%). Alcohol - 13.5%; Nose - Red Fruit (Cherry), vanilla, sweet spice; Palate - Cherry, strawberry, vanilla, spice (peppercorn); Medium tannins with a long smooth finish. It was a perfect match with with our Friday night pizza or throw on a pot of pasta with a simple tomato sauce!
First Package all nice and snug! Top - Poggio Morino Morellino di Scansano; Middle - Arido Malbec,; Bottom - Lamadrid Estate Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon |
This is the second Lamadrid Wine we have tried and we were not disappointed! (See comments from Lamadrid Cabernet Sauvignon). Marquis Wine Cellars carries seven different Lamadrid wines. Cannot wait to try them all! Alcohol - 14%; Nose - spicy, black licorice; Palate - same as nose with a hint of chocolate. This one also was the right match with our Friday night pizza ! or give it try with BBQ salmon.
Chateau La Fleur Carrere
When we first opened this wine it was a little disappointing but after a while it started to develop. It went from an okay wine to a great wine. This wine is a blend from Bordeaux of 80% Merlot; 15% Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). Alcohol - 14%; Nose - Ripe red dark fruit with a hint of earth; Palate - a full bodied red with same as nose dark cherry, earthy tones and a great long finish. If you can find this wine and you do purchase it I recommend holding on to it for a couple of years to let it develop more in the bottle or you can enjoy it now. Enjoy this wine with white or red meat.
Hope to see you in the club!
Enjoy in moderation and Ciao for now!
